How Course Critique Works

Course Critique gives students a simple way to share feedback while teaching is still taking place, and gives lecturers the tools to understand that feedback clearly.

Anonymous for students. Useful for lecturers. Simple for everyone.

Collect feedback in seconds

Every lecturer can generate a unique QR code for each module or teaching assignment.

Display it on a lecture slide, share it in class or add it to your VLE. Students scan the code and are taken straight to the correct anonymous feedback form with the lecturer and module already selected.

Supporting points:

  • No student login required
  • Works on any phone
  • Lecturer and module pre-selected
  • Feedback remains anonymous

Focus on the feedback that matters

Use the dashboard filters to view feedback by module, academic year, or custom date range.

Lecturers can quickly move from an overall picture of their teaching to a specific module or period, making it easier to identify patterns, compare results and focus on the feedback that is most useful.

See your overall teaching score at a glance

Course Critique combines the seven core teaching and module measures into a clear overall score out of 10.

The score gives lecturers an immediate snapshot of how students are experiencing their teaching, while still allowing every individual measure to be explored in more detail.

Key idea:
One simple score. Seven underlying measures.

Understand how students rate their overall experience

Students can give an overall 1–5 star rating alongside their detailed feedback.

The dashboard shows both the average rating and the full distribution of responses, so lecturers can see not only the headline score but how consistently students are rating their experience.

Key idea:
See the average — and the story behind it.

Discover the themes students talk about most

Written feedback is automatically analysed to highlight the words and themes appearing most frequently in student comments.

This makes it easy to spot recurring strengths, common experiences and areas students mention repeatedly without having to read every response individually.

Key idea:
Turn student comments into visible themes.

Turn your dashboard into a polished report

Generate a professional PDF report based on the dashboard’s current module and date filters.

Reports bring together scores, ratings, trends, question breakdowns and anonymous student comments in one document — ideal for module reviews, appraisal, teaching reflection and professional recognition.
